Roberto Mancini says his team's win before the international break midweek. City have won one of their previous six matches in all competitions but beat Sunderland with a first clean sheet this season to sit second in the rankings standings.
"Every game is tough at the moment but we are happy to clean sheet." Since beating QPR 3-1 on September 1, the City only take maximum points from any of their three top flight games. They lost to Real Madrid and a draw with Borussia Dortmund in the Champions League.
"Maybe we made some mistakes but I'm happy that our performance in general was really good," said Mancini. "We are disappointed defensively this season but we are looking strong now since the international break we have played well .."
Aleksandar Kolarov open early scoring with a free-kick and substitute Sergio Aguero made the second goal and closed James Milner
Sunderland boss Martin O'Neill has no arguments with the result. "We were well beaten by a superior team, I have very few complaints," he said. "My complaint is clearly with us.
"We were attacked too rare and the second goal was a great moment because it allows them to go and show all their skills without concern of conceding a goal." They deserved to win They're much, much better than us .. "
