Olivier Giroud scored his first Premier League for Arsenal as the Gunners came from behind to beat West Ham.
West Ham took the lead when Mohamed Diame beat Vito Mannone with a curling shot. Giroud equalized before the break when he poked Lukas Podolski's cross at the near post. Kevin
Nolan missed two chances for the hosts and were made to pay when Theo
Walcott came off the bench to make it 2-1 with Santi Cazorla third hit.
Walcott, who replaced Gervinho disappoint, helping the Gunners to take advantage in the last half hour as West Ham tired. But
after being on top for most of the game, it was no more than the team
Arsene Wenger deserve because they extend their unbeaten run against
West Ham to nine games and moved into fifth place in the Premier League.
Sam
Allardyce's side had to defend assertive throughout the game but they
came up against another midfield run by Cazorla impressive. and
disappointment they lost their first Premier League home games this
season compounded by injuries to forward Ricardo Vaz Te, who went with
suspected shoulder dislocation. Walcott
and Cazorla final destination within six minutes gave the scoreline a
gloss adds Andy Carroll caused concern in the visitors' defense on the
first start since suffering a hamstring injury striker
But
the result was the perfect response to defeat the Gunners' by Chelsea
last weekend and that means only one league defeat of the season so far.
Carroll
also underlined the value of when he spent much of the first 20 minutes
as the Hammers defense reinforce Arsenal squandered a promising
opportunity. Giroud
almost scored within the first two minutes when Jussi Jaaskelainen
tipped his shot round the post and Carroll's goal-bound effort blocked
the French striker then in the first round. So, when the West Ham goal came on 21 minutes it was something of a surprise. Diame
fed by George McCartney to the left and skipped past Senegal player
Aaron Ramsey before curling finish into the far corner for fun Palu his
first goal. Referee
Phil Dowd booked the midfielder Diame for celebration and perhaps lucky
to stay on the field as soon as he dropped Mikel Arteta.
Then,
just as Carroll began to become more influential in the attacking half,
Diame has a pocket to take in midfield led to the equalizer. The
ball was swept to Podolski on the left and Giroud exploded near post
cross to tuck in Germany for the purpose of a true hunter. Having
got themselves back on level terms, Arsenal took the time to warm up on
the same theme as the strike of the first period. At
that point, Carroll almost made it 2-1 but his header from a long
diagonal ball wide with only Mannone beaten until delivery, while Nolan
wasted a great chance when clean through.
Arsenal
began to assert their authority on the game, Giroud Walcott latched
onto a through ball is just 16 minutes after coming on to score his
fourth goal of the season with a shot near the right goal. Another
chance fell to Nolan, but he was fired from the edge of the box, and
that loss proved costly once Cazorla broke out in the third Arsenal from
20 yards to cap an outstanding individual performance score 1-3 to
Arsenal. Only
concern is for Arsenal left-back Kieran Gibbs, who left the field in
the second half with what Wenger described then as "thigh problem".
